I commute into Brighton daily, occasionally by bike, so initiatives like National Bike Week and www.journeyon.co.uk should really be aimed squarely at someone like me - so it's kinda disappointing that word of these hadn't reached me until I read your post (via the Brighton Bloggers RSS).<BR/><BR/>It would be nice to imagine a Brighton where there isn't such animosity between cyclists, motorists and pedestrians, but I can't see it happening. It's, as you say, down to the power imbalance, the ones with the horsepower and the metal cocoons feel they can bully the cyclists. The cyclists develop a self-righteous aggression as a consequence which is often suffered by the pedestrian.
